Jonah's motivation for refuse to preach at Nineveh may have been less about prejudice against the Assyrians and more about saving Israel from the future Assyrian invasion.
Though the placement of Jonah's book is near the very end of the Old Testament, his ministry was during the reign of Jeroboam II. Books like Daniel, Esther, Jeremiah, Ezra, Ezekiel, and others all take place after Jonah even though they are placed before his book in the Bible. The Bible's order is placed by subject matter, not chronological order.
The aquatic creature that swallowed Jonah may not have been a whale nor a great fish. Find out why by purchasing a copy today!
